Event Description

Do you find yourself checking Facebook or other social media pages anytime you have a free second?

Ever wonder what life was like before social media started luring us to our computers or mobile devices every 15 seconds?

Can you remember the last time you chatted with strangers while you stood in line or waited in a waiting room?

Don't you ever miss those things....or wonder if you're missing out?

Let's all take a break from ALL social media this coming Monday (Sept. 7). Maybe we'll re-discover parts of life that are happening even in those tiny windows of time in the grocery store check-out lane.

Just RSVP in the upper right corner of this Event page to join us, and we'll check in on Tuesday to see how things went! :)

Great idea to prioritize yourself each day, Pat! I love that! (And don't worry about me giving Amy a hard time. LOL! She's a super close friend of mine, and she's never ever on FB which made it so extra funny that she ended up on there on the day of our event) ;)

Awww, if you see this, Amy, it's ok! :)   It's hard when FB pulls you in. :)   Christy, I'm so guilty of just wanting to do too many things at once, being a busy little bee, and not making time for myself.  I think a lot of us do this.  We put everything but ourselves as a priority.  I'm really trying to make time each day to just give myself a break, whether it's just sitting outside and watching the sunset or sitting outside to listen to the birds sing in the morning, reading a chapter of a good book in a comfy chair, just anything really.  Just slowing life down a little bit feels so good. :)

Awww.....so sad about your sweet doggie :/

So glad you had such a relaxing day though. Wow! A soak in a tub sounds soooooooooooo good right now! Good for you, girl! Thanks for joining us. I heard from our other participant, Amy. She got sucked in by the old FB. LOL! A couple friends messaged her to see how she was doing, and she responded.....WE win! Hee, hee ;)

Christy, it's great that you could catch yourself each time you picked up the iPad.  I was pretty fortunate. My dog had me up all night (has dementia now and heart disease, so I need to reassure him when he gets confused so it doesn't put a strain on his heart) so I sat on the couch yesterday, trying to catch up on my Netflix movies and reading and enjoying the day off, but I kept nodding off on the couch over and over.  :)   In the evening, I planned out the rest of my week and then took the time to just soak in the tub for awhile.  What a nice day it was!   Today, I'm back to the normal grind, but just like you, I'm going to be having little "tech" breaks here and there.  :)

Whew! Ok, so how'd it go, ladies?

For me, it was a pretty big wake up call of just how often and how quickly I default to "checking Facebook" when I have downtime. And I don't even have it on my phone! Wow! I was even out doing my favorite thing yesterday (hanging at the ocean) and STILL I would catch myself reaching for my iPad whenever we were in the RV (like waiting for Chad to make lunch or whatever). But I did manage to remember each time and set the iPad down. It was such a great feeling to become aware of what a reflex this has become for me. So I may do this challenge much more often (even privately by just "taking days off" because it was honestly such a nice break). :)

Well, things sure do happen for a reason, Pat! :)

Enjoy your reading! Glad to see you here...

Perfect timing!  I had been telling myself that I should spend more time reading and less time on the computer or phone.
