This class is for anyone who wants to learn to take care of themselves, their family, their children and their friends. Class will provide students with all the basic information on herbs to be able to address most common health complaints for the entire family. Class will focus on all ages from children to the elderly.
Theory of herbalism, history of herbalism, basic assessment, precautions, drug interactions, and effectiveness of over 150 herbs will be covered in-depth. Class will focus on herbs commonly available at the health food store and native plants that can easily be grown in the garden.

Week 1: History Herbalism, Natural Medicine Theory
Week 2: Holistic Assessment, Herbal Simples, Action Categories
Week 3: Dosing Herbs, Methods of Administering Herbs
Week 4: Immune System, Eyes, Ears, Sinus & Throat
Week 5: Digestive System, Cardiovascular System, Skin & Hair
Week 6: Respiratory System, Musculoskeletal System, Liver
Week 7: Kidneys, Hormonal & Endocrine System
Week 8: Pediatrics, Elderly, Basic First Aid, Formula Theory, Case Studies
Class will be hands on, with students experiencing and tasting the effects of all the herbs. Class will also have live case studies for students to practice on! Class is open to people of all education and experience levels. No previous knowledge of herbalism or natural healing is required. The only requirement is the desire to help others and heal your family. By the end of class students will be able to select and safely administer specific herbs for common health complaints.

Time: Class meets Thursday nights from 6 PM –8:00 PM. Class meets June 3rd to July 29th.
Cost: Cost for all eight weeks is $200. Payment plans are available. Cost includes handouts, herb samples, herb teas and educational handouts.
Note: Class does qualify for herbal education hours with the American Herbalist Guild for those pursuing professional herbalist certification.
