Ok, maybe this seems soooooooo obvious...but if you do much cooking, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing MULTIPLES of the following:
-cutting boards (various sizes, too)
-liquid measuring cups (various sizes, too)
-sets of dry measuring cups
-sets of measuring spoons

Seriously, I probably own about 10 cutting boards by now and nearly that many sets of measuring spoons and dry measuring cups. I also have one small, 2 medium and 1 large liquid measuring cups. It may seem like "wasteful overkill," but I'm busy enough when cooking....especially when making multiple dishes at a time and it's nice to not be constantly scrubbing those things out in the process (especially when using gooey, messy stuff like butter, honey, almond butter, etc.)

Well, for what it's worth....

HIGHLY recommend a SALAD SPINNER for anyone who eats salads with any sort of regularity. Now that we have fresh (and dirty!) salad available from our garden, this tool is a god-send!!! And the lettuce gets so nice and dry (and NOT wilty/soggy):

For those of you who are married, live with other adults, or have older children:
If one of you does the cooking, another should do the dishes. Works GREAT for us! Right, Chad?!?!

I agree Christy. My daughter and I like to listen to books on tape when we have cleaning/prep to do. Time flies when your listening to a story!

A great way to "get through" dreaded kitchen chores, etc. is to turn on some music. Grab your headphones or crank up the stereo!! We often do this while washing dishes (ugghh!!), chopping veggies for the following days or prepping meals that require a lot of time. Of course, having a helper to talk to, instead, is my preference....but for the times when I'm working alone, music makes it more fun!
