"My life changed after the birth of my oldest son in November of 04′. Born with many issues, one of our struggles became something called MSPI (milk soy protein intolerance). Which, after all was said and done from surgeries to NG feeds (Nasal Gastric feeding tube) left a lot of stress and confusion in our home, where new parents had to maneuver through a new food world. All that being said, when…See More
"Alright, review time! :) We did this tonight, I had some orange essential oil. It is my oldest's favorite scent. So, I try to always keep some on hand. Anyway, I just didn't want to go out and get a really cool new oil. So, I tried the…"
"KIm, I've never had mine around very long. I imagine that it could last quite a while though, in my experience and research vinegar doesn't really go bad. I know people that have had vinegar on hand for years! If by some weird fluke…"
Growing your OWN food is a great way to control the quality of what you eat! This is a great place to post photos/videos of your personal garden and to learn about other people's gardens. You might find people here to trade garden produce with???See More
What are your dietary, natural health or green living interests and/or restrictions (or, more generally, why are you interested in joining this site)????
I have two boys, special needs boys. Who had MSPI and now have FPIES and allergies. Aside from removing milk proteins, nuts, strawberries, etc. I have changed their diets entirely and watched it change their lives!
If you ever wonder if food makes a difference, let me tell you it does!! My oldest son has Tourette Syndrome, OCD, ADHD, ODD, SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), IEBD (Intermittent Explosive Behavior Disorder), etc. At one point on the max dose and then some of SEVEN medications and working on adding another, he's now on 5 and working his way down the dosages to what I hope will be no meds eventually! His life was meds, tics, and anger. Two years later, you can hardly see or hear a single tic! He acts like a "normal" boy with a little bit of an authority issue but, what 7yr old isn't that way?! Where once, he was walking the line of failure to thrive for his WHOLE life, he now is finally a nice, healthy weight!
My youngest son, born a month premature, has struggled with everything since birth. A little bit more behind than just the normal preemie few weeks, and with what his therapists think is the signs of auditory processing disorder, he's been a through the food wringer too. Since changing his diet too, he is much more able to focus on what it is everyone is trying to teach him. That's not to say that he's 100% better but, he's come a long way!
I want to learn to do more to help them, help our family and myself by being more green, eating so much more healthier than we ever have been and by learning to do things that living here most people don't do.
How did you hear about this site?
I follow you on FB.....I think I may have found it through a local allergy or food intolerance page. I can't remember it's been too long now.
